Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MentorNow mobile applications, this website, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use MentorNow.

1. The Service

MentorNow is a flash-mentoring platform. It matches professionals for short, on-demand video conversations. A mentee can request help; available mentors can accept. Sessions are live, informal, and time-limited (typically 5–10 minutes). Matching may consider specialty, experience, region, and whether you asked for traditional (more senior) or peer mentoring.

We may launch additional professional fields over time. Availability of mentors is not guaranteed. A request may expire if no mentor accepts.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You represent that the professional background you provide is accurate. MentorNow is not a marketplace for licensed professional services, employment, or emergency help.

3. Accounts

• You are responsible for your login credentials and for activity on your account.
• Keep your profile information current, including specialty and availability if you mentor.
• One person per account. Do not impersonate anyone or create an account for another person without authority.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a safety, legal, or integrity risk.

4. Mentoring sessions

• Calls are designed to be bite-sized. We enforce a maximum duration; the call ends when that limit is reached.
• You must grant camera and microphone permission to join a video call.
• Do not record a session without the other person’s consent and a lawful basis to do so. MentorNow itself does not record calls.
• Either participant may end the call at any time. Mentors may pause availability or decline a request.
• After a call you may leave a rating or feedback. Ratings should be honest and not abusive.

5. Not professional advice

MentorNow provides a way for peers to talk. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Mentors are other users, not our employees or agents acting in a professional capacity on our behalf.

• Conversations are peer guidance, not advice you may rely on as a substitute for a licensed professional.
• No attorney-client, doctor-patient, fiduciary, or other formal professional relationship is created by using the Service or completing a session.
• Nothing on a call is confidential in the legal sense of privilege. Do not share confidential, privileged, or sensitive client, patient, or employer information.
• If you need formal advice, hire a licensed professional in the relevant jurisdiction. If you are in danger or need emergency services, contact local emergency responders — not MentorNow.

You acknowledged similar points when you completed in-app onboarding. Those disclaimers remain part of your agreement with us.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, discriminate against, or exploit another user
• Solicit or share illegal content, or use the Service to commit a crime
• Share malware, scrape the Service, reverse engineer it except as allowed by law, or interfere with its operation
• Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or availability
• Use MentorNow to advertise unrelated services, recruit, or spam
• Circumvent call limits, matching, or safety features

You may report a session from the call screen. Reports are reviewed as we reasonably can; we do not promise a particular outcome.

7. Your content

You retain rights in content you submit (for example profile text, photos, and feedback). You grant MentorNow a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the Service. You represent that you have the rights to grant this license and that your content does not infringe others’ rights.

8. Our rights

MentorNow, the brand mark, and the Service’s design and software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app or this site except as we expressly allow.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties, including authentication and hosting (Supabase), push notifications (Firebase), and live video (Daily), as well as the Apple App Store and Google Play. Their terms apply to their products. Outages or changes on their side may affect MentorNow.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that a mentor will be available, that a match will be suitable, that guidance you receive will be accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MENTORNOW AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR FROM ANY SESSION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY, THE APP IS OFFERED WITHOUT A FEE UNLESS WE SAY OTHERWISE).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

12. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify MentorNow against claims arising from your use of the Service, your content, your sessions, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5, 8, 10–12, and 14) will survive termination.

14. Changes

We may change the Service or these Terms. We will post the updated Terms here and revise the date above. Continued use after the update means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

15. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and MentorNow about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or sale. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. The Service is intended for users who may access it from multiple countries; mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply where they cannot be waived.
